Hollywood's Gadget Factories

from the gotta-make-it-look-real dept

The NY Times has an article looking at how Hollywood designs their technology with a particular focus on the (very good) TV show Alias. They talk about how everything needs to have at least some basis in reality, though sometimes they take a device that’s meant for something entirely different just because they “like the shape”. They also mention that the CIA has a “liaison” to Hollywood to help them come up with accurate portrayals of the CIA and its gadgets. I wonder how someone gets that job?
