  Not sure we're the smartest. Just the generation with the most access to information, but that doesn't mean much. Just that we have the potential to be the smartest. There are a lot of people that still just ignore facts and go with their opinion/prejudices, and they're running a lot of the world, especially here in the US.

  First off, there is no God. Second off, the average family is making more than they did in the 1950's, but the average individual earner is making much less (adjusted for inflation). It's MUCH harder to make it on a single salary any more, especially with kids. Homeschooling is great, but it's not affordable to many. Not if you want to have money for retirement eventually, too.

  Aye. My kids gets themselves in timeout (for pushing, taking toys, etc.) and get to watch their sibling have fun when they aren't allowed to. That's an effective timeout.

  My feeling is that they can't do much worse than the people that have been doing it, and because they don't have the ties and backdoor obligations they might actually have a better chance of doing a good job.

  Contract law

  Apparently you can buy iPads at a discount from Apple to be used in promotions, and they have language in the contracts for those reduced-price promo iPads that says your promotion can't reflect badly on Apple. Apple is just starting to enforce the contracts. If you buy it at retail and give it away, the doctrine of first sale protects you.
  
  I'm not 100%, but that's the explanation I saw elsewhere. I hate Apple as much as the next guy, but I don't want to hate them for a non-reason.

  If you risked your life for a country that will arrest people for dancing, what did you really risk your life for? The freedoms you so espouse are being systematically stripped from us. Just because they're not facing death or bullets doesn't make them less patriotic.
  
  BTW, your buddies that are risking their lives this very moment? It's not always for freedom. A lot of it's driven by profit, even if they think it's for freedom. When the military brass is saying we need to reduce the budget and limit engagements but the politicians say no, they're fighting for profit, not for freedom.

  I'd guess that's completely illegal, due to trademark infringement. If Apple knew about it, they'd stop it ;) It's just that this kid is in the US and easier to access via the legal system than some side-market in China.
