  Close the loophole

  It would be nice if congress would just add a line stating that any drug grated orphan status that subsequently climbs above 200,000 cases in the US automatically becomes public domain.

  That would probably fit better with the original intent of getting companies to research drugs for rare diseases instead of the newest disease.

  You might not of spent the money but most people are mindful of the story (and others like it) from yesterday with this nugget of truth: "If you don't want to see six-year-olds cuffed by cops, the solution is simple: DON'T CALL THE COPS." In this case the cops had already been called and were just looking for an address to drive the SWAT tank to. If the cops are looking for you, getting a lawyer in between them and yourself very well could save your life.
