VoIP Cutoff Date Delayed... Again

The whole mess with the VoIP cutoff date continues. The FCC has demanded that VoIP providers turn off service to anyone who doesn't proactively acknowledge (usually by clicking a check box) that their VoIP 911 service may not work in the same way as regular 911 service. The original cut off day was July 29th. Then it was pushed back to August 29th, and as it becomes clear that people were going to lose service, it's now been pushed back to September 28th. At this rate, it'll keep getting pushed back until the time when VoIP providers have to offer E911 service anyway. Of course, the most amusing point in all of this? If the VoIP providers have to cut you off from service, they still have to make sure the phones can dial 911.
