Identity Theft More Often An Inside Job

Despite all the advice that gets put out there about how to avoid having your identity stolen, an increasing number of identity thefts (perhaps 50% of them) are due to insiders with access to information selling it - meaning, there's really nothing you can do to prevent it. To make matters worse, of course, is that there is simply no easy way to clear your credit history if you're a victim of identity theft. In many cases, the victims are treated more like criminals, while the criminals remain free.
