Ringtones Released Before Actual Songs Released

from the well,-that's-something dept

Okay, okay. I get it. Ringtones are a big deal. However, it's still surprising that two music groups have agreed to release some of their songs in the ringtone format before they release the actual songs anywhere. I wonder how popular those will be. Part of the attraction (it seems) to the ringtones, is being able to recognize what real song they are from. To have a ringtone that doesn't match any known song seems sort of pointless.

Ummmm.... is this the 3rd story on ringtones on Techdirt today? Tech news must be getting slow or something, I think I'd even prefer the Apple-Bashing days of yore!;-)

What Apple bashing days of yore? Surely you're mistaken.

Okay, I have no idea what's up with all the ringtone stories, but they just kept showing up. So there.

I knew you'd like the Apple remark... any new news on vibrate tones? How hard can it be!?! I mean they already have different vibration patterns for ringing vs. voicemail....
