Bad Spelling To Avoid Filters

from the that's-one-way-to-do-it dept

People are starting to purposely misspelling words in order to get their email newsletters past filters. For example, a legal newsletter has to spell sex as sez, and pornography as pormography. Otherwise, many of the readers would never get the newsletters. My favorite quote: "people are being forced to work around a computer's natural stupidity." I'd like to explain away my spelling errors using the same reason, but the fact that I misspell common words would probably give me away.

  1. Don't spammers already do this, too?

If a legitimate newsletter can misspell pormography [sic], so can a spammer. In fact, judging from the vast wasteland that once was Usenet, spammers are already on the leading edge of creative spelling to avoid automated filtering.

In other news, Mike is "starting to purposely misgrammaticizing" his sentences in an effort to boost comment posting. When asked about his most recent grammatical gaffe, Mike remarked, "If bad grammar gets the nitpickers to post, that's one less article with zero comments."

Damn damn damn. Now don't I feel stupid. I can't change it either, because now you've pointed out my bad grammar.
