About Techdirt.

Techdirt employs a team of top-notch analysts with a broad range of experience. They work in a variety of sectors including technology, communications, media, biotechnology, financial services, retail, automotive and government. They come from diverse backgrounds from some of the best media and technology companies around the world. Techdirt analysts have worked at such places as Intel, The Wall Street Journal, Sun Microsystems, McGraw-Hill, SK Telecom, ABC/Disney, Nano-Tex and CNET, to name just a few. All our analysts are highly trained in the Techdirt Corporate Intelligence Process which has been refined and perfected over the years.

Techdirt was founded in 1997. It is a privately held company based in Sunnyvale, California.

Our Management Team

Michael Masnick, President and CEO

mike masnick Mike is the visionary behind Techdirt, building up the core idea into reality and recruiting the management team. In addition to providing the strategic direction for the company, Mike oversees all editorial aspects of the Techdirt’s public and customer sites. Mike's insight into the realms of business and technology are the basis for his frequent posts to the award winning Techdirt blog. The widely followed, often quoted blog was launched in 1997. Prior to founding Techdirt Inc., Mike worked in business development and marketing at Release Software, an e-commerce startup, and in marketing at Intel. Mike has a bachelor's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations and an MBA -- both from Cornell University.

M. Grier Graham, Vice President, Sales and Business Development

grier graham Grier heads up Techdirt’s sales, customer retention and business development efforts focused on Techdirt’s enterprise customers. Prior to joining Techdirt, Grier was VP of Business Development and Administration of Poa Sana, Inc., where he was responsible for fundraising and establishing partner and customer relationships. He was instrumental in the sale of the company to a major semiconductor manufacturer. Prior to Poa Sana, Grier was a management consultant and analyst for GKMG Consulting where his roles included sales, client management and financial and strategic analysis. He started his career in journalism in McGraw-Hill’s Aviation Week and Space Technology group as a senior editor, editor and reporter. He earned an MBA at Cornell University and his BA from Boston University.

Michael Ho, Executive Director, Research

mike ho Mike oversees the research department of Techdirt’s Corporate Intelligence business. He has held various research roles at companies including BFGoodrich, Raychem and Nano-Tex. Before joining Techdirt, Mike coordinated product development as a project leader at Nano-Tex. He earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and completed work towards a PhD at Stanford University. He continues to pursue his technical and scientific interests in a wide variety of fields.

Michael Costanza, Executive Director, Technology

michael costanza Mike is tasked with developing and maintaining the technology that supports Techdirt’s corporate clients as well as its public websites. Prior to joining Techdirt, Mike was Software Engineering Director for the mySimon division of CNET Networks. Before that, he was a production engineer for the company. Prior to joining CNET, he worked at Intel in Systems Architecture, Circuit Design, Marketing and Product Engineering. Mike holds a MEng in Electrical Engineering, with a concentration in VLSI design from Cornell University. He earned a BA in Physics from Ithaca College and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell.

Dennis Yang, Vice President, Product Development

dennis yang Dennis is responsible for managing the development of Techdirt’s suite of intelligence management tools for both its corporate clients and the public websites. Dennis joined Techdirt after seven years at mySimon, a division of CNET Networks. As Associate Vice President, Dennis was responsible for the overall management, operations, and development of the mySimon comparison shopping site. Prior to that, he was the Director of Engineering for mySimon. Dennis first cut his teeth at Andersen Consulting, and holds a B.S. from Cornell University. Dennis authors his own personal blog, appropriately named dennisyang.com.
