AT&T Wireless And VoiceStream Talking Merger
It appears the rumors will never stop until the deals are actually made. After last week’s Cingular/AT&T rumors, this week we hear that AT&T Wireless and VoiceStream are holding preliminary merger talks. Everyone says it’s still early in the talks. It’s really not a surprise that they’re talking. It also won’t be surprising if they do eventually merge. However, now might be a bit early. Update: It seems other analysts agree with those of us at Techdirt. They’re saying a deal doesn’t make sense just yet, and if anything, Cingular is a more likely partner for VoiceStream, since they don’t overlap as much.
