  There are butter keepers, that use a water seal to keep the butter from exposure to air. They will keep butter for a long time without it going rancid. It is a two part device, where the part with the butter goes upside down into the part that holds the water for the seal. You can get them a most high end kitchen supply stores. I think most are from France.

  I hope since Git-Hub elected to treat this non-DMCA notice as a DMCA notice, that the posters of the projects will file counter notices.
  
  We really need a law with some teeth for abusing the DMCA process.

  I think that is why he said "DMCA style" rather than DMCA and pointed out the the USTR is pushing others to adopt that style of a law in their country.

  Amazon is not offering any deal to the authors. They are telling the authors what deal they are offering to Hachette, to try to help the authors during the period of negotiation, and encourage both Amazon and Hachette to get moving on the negotiation.
  
  Sure Amazon is using disclosing this as a promotion ploy, but they aren't offing anything to the authors. They are just informing the authors.

  What is nice about these cases vs. Prenda is that there is a real company with real assets available for the victims to go after. That is something I bet wasn't in Colette's plan.

  People Sued

  I would be interested in seeing a similar chart showing the number of people sued instead of the number of cases filed. I don't think Malibu started filing single Doe cases until last year.

  Since Levy was calling from a different state, the federal law would apply, which I believe is single person consent. Therefore Levy could record the conversation if he wanted to.

  While Arizona does have a single publication law, it is apparent reading the complaint that the republishing argument is what they are going for.
  
  Mr. Levy's article on Public Citizen point out while every time a single publication law has been addressed with regards to the internet it has been upheld, the Arizona law has yet to be addressed.

  I assume that by "commercial software" you mean business software because I'm sure EA considered there games as commercial software. Still, if DRM is bad (and it is) then it is bad on commercial software as well.

  There is an update to the original story where the Post Office is now claiming that the quotes attributed to the Post Master General are inaccurate and that the Outbox guys requested the meeting, rather than being summoned.

  No Junk Mail

  I get my mail through a Private POB and already don't get all the "Occupant" junk mail. Obviously I still get the stuff where someone actually addresses it to my full address.

  Very few airports have a jet-bridge system that allows boarding front and back. DFW does for at least some, but they are in the minority.

  Everyone knows someone who has had their gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc. account compromised, and received SPAM from them. Why does John think this has anything to do with case. (I know he doesn't, but when you are blowing smoke, you will take the smoke from wherever you can get it.)
