  Cant get the basics right? I know quite a few people working with the loic, i definatly know what im talking about.
  
  As for being arrested, they actually have the argument of "i was hacked and put on a botnet" setup already. Difficult to prove they were doing it themselves.
  
  So back to my point, and as others have pointed out, the loic is generally done from normal every day computers, some run under protection, i know many who do not. Frankly quite a few are hoping to get arrested for it, then it gives them a much better platform from which to protest.

  So your DDOS is by bot-netting? ACTUALLY thats generally used for spamming. This DDOS is performed by people willingly using their computer systems.
  
  A DDoS is an automated way of achieving your "refreshing the page".
  
  To consider a DDoS anything other than a form of protest, is a logical dead end. (there you go mate, fixed that for you)

  What about wikileaks, they can no longer recieve donations for their site via two commonly used CC's. If you think this censorship is harmless and only effected the big bad Julian Asasnge, you are dead wrong.
  
  You know thousands of people, not by just a ''hi bob'' as you walk past, but personally enough that they tell you of their finanical troubles? And you have time to post on a forum? Damn you must have at least 30 fingers there mate.
  
  Did you consider phoning paypal? Perhaps organising something in a non-internet fashion?

  Ok to those who keep insisting that this is risking lives. Get off your high horse, READ the damn documents, you show me where any of these risks someones life?
  
  Not maybe, definatly, as in has put them in danger. Not "if it angers a country we could goto war", thats not valid reasoning, thats a failure on your diplomats to actually do their job.
  
  Until then, try something new, get a real argument.
  
  And as for charging him, ive seen the trumped up charges that were released today, arrest him, ill step up, many of us will, we will host everywhere, ill put my name to it.
  
  Scare tactics wont bow us, you cannot stop us.
  
  So grow up, grow a pair of balls, whatever it takes but learn to live with your own system. Dont blame us for showing it for what it is.

  Now im not a yank, but wouldnt this come under a freedom of speech? Not all of those sites were/are "counterfit", there was a couple of rap sites.

  Thats one of the sites actual ip's - when you goto it, yup you got the taken down message. Thats not a domain name seizure, thats a server seizure(i havnt tracert'ed it yet... actually doing it now...)
  
  Wow getting some weird results, someone who knows more about networks will have to look at that(not my field).
  
  So it seems like they have seized more than just the domain name...

  Despite the risks, some people will continue to release these documents as they are found.
  
  Its not like he didnt know the risks going into this, and while i think it was foolish of him to use his name freely, its his decision at the end of the day.
  
  Back to the subject though, your president cannot bring legal action against this site, not without everything blowing out of proportion, and just a large game of wack-a-mole.

  They cant shut down wikileaks because its not US based guys. Its run by an aussie, but last i checked, it was hosted somewhere else.
  
  Also as Mike notes, some of us are mirroring the Wikileaks site, if it go's down, were going to put it back up somewhere else. (on a side note, im going to need a new HD soon if they release much more roflol).

  As much as i dont want to derail this conversation(even aussies find this interesting, might be happening to you guys across the pond, but it shows us what to look out for over here).

  Unless some hacker installs it on your computer... SQL injection attacks, email scams(with links to infected webpages) etc sound familiar?
  As for the danger of using torrents, id strongly argue that more stupid users get infected from clicking bad links or from bad direct downloads than torrents(because they are that stupid).
  
  BTW your writing style makes you seem like a damn 4yo who cant control his voice, save the rest of our eye's eh? If you really want to emphasise use a damn * around the world.
