    Sometimes I really curse my luck that sh!t like this does not happen to me, i would really like to let off some steam and would give the person who tells me i gotta pay to hum a few tunes some very unmusical 'choicey' words.

    Is it just me or are others too getting the impression this is a dying industries last dying effort to grab how ever much they can before they become obsolete?

    Mike, I was not knocking you or the article in anyway-I do get the point of how the studios are trying to control the entire chain (kind of like one of my aunts who used to give me pocket money when i was a kid... and then tell me how to spend it - if the studio was my aunt she would be holding my hand and making sure i spent it only on "approved" items at "approved" shops at approved dates), was just asking if Redbox saying so, doesnt it knock the wind out of the sails of the studios special prices argument, who say one of the three issues is RB wants special pricing?

    As for buying at the local retail store, i think RB would be very popular if they came up with a campaign of: "Buy at your local store, then sell us the "2nd hand" dvd at full purchase price (or $1 less) - valid for the first 100 people in your area"

    Just a thought ;)

    I could be wrong, but from what i know i think this is covered by the US's first sale doctrine, as long as they dont make a copy of it and give out the actual original disk they are fine (like a library).

    Price...

    I'm pretty sure i read an article a little while back (just cant remember where) that quoted red box as saying that worse comes to worse, they would buy the movies at retail prices but were not going to cave to the studios demands.

    That pretty much cuts out the studios spin on "special prices" doesn't it?

    Forgive me, but i dont get it, maybe because i am not American and the whole FCC thing cannot affect me.

    On nearly every site, including this one, discussing copyright attracts the shills and the industry low life,scum sucking,b@stards and slimeballs from organizations like the RIAA, IFPI, BPI and MPAA.

    They dont say who they work for, but at times you have to have Paris Hilton's brain not to figure it out, so this really is nothing new if AT&T shill for their companies' agenda... right?
    (like i said, i dont really know if i am missing something in this discussion)

    If course they were going to sue, rather than have your music locked up but accessible from where ever you are traveling, they would like you to buy a copy of that music over and over again.

    Plus the service was/is innovative, which is a bad word in the music industry, their mantra being "since we cant do it, lets crush others who can".

    As for going after the person rather than the company, i kind of have mixed feelings about it, can someone go after Cary Sherman / Dan Glickman and the rest of the scumbags instead of the **AA? If yes, I like it, if no... dont like it all that much.

    I have an iphone and a nokia 5800,
    actually, let me correct that, HAD an iphone, i gave that 3gs piece of junk away and am very happy with my 5800. I still use the plan from the 3gs to tether my laptop via my 5800 so not a real loss.

    In Sweden "comes with music" is not unlimited with the 5800.. i got a voucher for a bunch of songs but never used it because of DRM etc (same old reasons, not worth mentioning here). Anyone want that voucher please message me on ezee.se, its yours, free, no strings attached, no promotion, because frankly its a piece of junk and not worth the paper the passcode is printed on.

    I pretty much immd got on p2p and downloaded all the songs i wanted, then spotify came along and now i rip the songs i want with wiretap pro (mac) or Replay music (windows).

    I use only 4 of my fingers to play music on my phone or to rip music from spotify or to download my music... the middle finger i save for the music industry.

    5 seconds before i come across a story like this I am always under the illusion that these scumbags cannot sink any lower than they already are... then i read an article like this and i see they have actually sunk lower than ever thought possible.

    I say they can install all the spyware they want on my computer, but if at the end of the month if they dont find any "infringements" I should have a free reign to take a baseball bat against one of their execs skulls.
    Then the month again resets to zero.

    I really dont give a flying **** about the greedy artists (although i do feel some pain for the struggling ones) and most of the "artists" who signed into a label, but I am filled with joy knowing the industry is going to have to fight tooth and nail to keep their large piece of the pie.. either way its going to be damaging for them, both internally and in the eyes of the public as they cant use the "protecting the artists" in this.

    I hope these sons of bitches die a slow....... painful....... death, then burn in hell for all eternity.

    Plus I want to be able to p!ss on their graves.

    (Yes, I know, my hatred for the labels needs therapy)

    at least that was my experience when I visited India last, To give them their due its a fairly consistent from the person you meet at passport control to everyone else who works in Govt. offices.

    No matter what happens with ACTA, its gotten to a stage where people are going to ignore any law they deem as unfair or 'bought' by the industry and will still download with what their conscience will permit them.

    The only difference is, right now they are breaking civil law and in future if the industry gets its way will (probably) be breaking criminal law.

    Either way, a big f*ck you very much to the industry, I'll rather spend 5 euros on a VPN connection a month than 15euros for a CD with 2 good songs and a bunch of fillers or a DVD that has a nice trailer but is in reality a total piece of crap ('Drag me to hell' anyone?).
