I lived across the street from the Roxbury projects (St. Alphonsus St.) when I was going to MassArt.
trust me when I tell you, there are FAR MORE serious crimes going on that these spineless cops should be addressing but I guess its easier than patrolling an area where students are getting curb-stomped by the PJ locals.
Meh.....while Gohmert certanly shows a lack of knowledge, it doesnt seem to live up to the level of "OMG" that Mike is suggesting (Im referring strictly to the video)
On the other hand, orin isn't giving direct informative answers to the senator. Thats his job I suppose but its also behavior that most large companies exhibit when there are fact-finding sessions that could even have whiff of liability. I commend the sentator for calling the attorney out on his overly rambling answers that wastes the time of elected officials who might be trying to do the right thing.
Lastly, Orin needs to take a trip to the testosterone factory
I like Cory but Boing-Boing.com is run/admined by some of the most intolerant, closed minded individuals i've ever experienced. Comment on most anything put up that isn't agreeable to their ultra-PC political and social views and you will find not just your account but your IP perma-banned with zero explanation.
trust me when I tell you that I'm not talking about overtly arrogant and/or blatantly ignorant posts.....I'm talking about intelligent debate.
Its really unfortunate because they do some great content. Its when they start veering into political opinion that they seem to lose the ability to think rationally.
kudos to the person for fessing up. I just wish he would have hauled off and broken the teeth of this self-absorbed, self-righteous dummy who just drew more attention to the incident which is something he surely didnt want.
Its stunning how our finest minds and political leaders can't grasp the simple fact that until the demand for illicit dope is quashed, all these attempts at stopping the source will be nothing more than band-aids.
Or how about treating addiction as a medical issue rather than a criminal. We have over 100 years of poof that locking up users , even for long periods, does NOTHING to stop the use of illicit dope. Gangland murders didn't stop until prohibition was repealed. Why does anyone think its any different with drugs.
Personally I would love to take attorneys (from ALL areas of specialization) and burn them to death on live TV.
If things keep going the way they are, you'll see that and more. Next time OWS happens, it wont be passive hipsters and dead heads, its going to be working class and lower white collar people dragging shitbags onto the streets and beating them to death. LOL at legislation.
should a person buying a Hardback book have to be "informed"?
I've dealt with enough DRM in various media to realize that the only reason management includes it is to placate moronic shareholders who think DRM actually discourages pirating. Any upper level suit whose been in the field long enough knows its futile. Even more futile is arguing the morality/ethics of piracy. Whether you believe its proper or not, its a fact of life that isn't going away no matter how angry "honest" folks get. In the end, the ONLY people who are effected by DRM are the people who bought the product honestly. The only alternative is to make sure those that DO pay are well rewarded for paying for a legit copy.
While I do agree with most of the statements in the piece, I believe the "no fly" list is a bit of a cheap shot. They would be crucified if an individual on said list committed an act of terrorism if the person was allowed on-board. Put them on the list and they do nothing and the list is used as a moral bludgeon.
if one is going to argue these issues, at least try to be fair. The truth is disturbing enough without having to embellish the bullet points.
NO ONE, bands or management are guaranteed the amount of money they "used to" get. get over it. The spiritual value of music is as much as its ever been, the monetary value is near zero....sorry! You can either NOT release your product or you can play by the rules of the people who consume it.
Doesn't it suck to be at the mercy of a large group of individuals who are acting in their own self-interest? Enjoy, because it's YOUR turn now.
I use Google news. If I hit a site for a story and come up against a paywall, I still have several hundred other alternatives to read said news stories. The majority of people who insist on one specific news site are going to die of old age within 10 years anyway. Fuck 'em.
