So US States that prohibit non-believers from holding public office aren't being persecuted? Non Muslims banned from marrying Muslims in some nations isn't persecution and contries that force the study of a particular religion in public education aren't persecuting those that do not believe?

From what I understand they normally sign a contract that retains them for the duration of the show, once the show finishes and if they haven't won then they are normally released from the contract, unless the contract covers a nationwide tour of finalists.
... and after building a fanbase via music reality TV if she doesn't maintain her connection with her fans she may disappear.

To a degree you are correct, it is just entertainment, an industry that doesn't contribute as much as say.. the tech industry towards a nations GDP... so why does this little industry have so much sway over Government laws? Why does this little insignificant industry get to say how our rights can be eroded?
