Judge Says Apple Can Subpoena Rumor Sites

from the go-right-ahead... dept

As expected, the judge in one of the Apple vs. rumor sites cases has said that Apple has made a compelling case that these sites are publishing trade secrets, and therefore it's okay for them to subpoena the email records of the sites to try to hunt down who leaked the info. In doing so, the judge more or less avoided the whole "who's a journalist/who isn't a journalist" question. As expected (again), the EFF says they'll appeal, so this is far from over.
