AOL Spokesperson Leading Candidate For RIAA Job

Now that Mary Bono has said she isn't going after the top RIAA job, it looks like the leading contender is John Buckley, currently spokesperson for AOL. He has strong connections within the Republican Party, having been director of communications for Bob Dole's run at the presidency, so he should have access to plenty of politicians. Before he went into politics he was apparently a rock critic. Of course, none of this indicates that the RIAA is going to change it's policies any, so don't expect a new leader to stop the process where they slowly destroy their own business, while others come in and take it away.
