Industry Coalition To Fight Online Scams

from the will-it-do-any-good? dept

With all the online scams that have been generating publicity in the last week or so, the Information Technology Association of America is trying to form a consortium to help fight online fraud. Of course, it’s unclear what such a consortium can do to actually combat fraud other than sit around and agree that “fraud is a problem”. It sounds like the reason for putting this group together has more to do with preventing the government from stepping in and trying to do something, by showing that the industry is “working on solutions” – than to actually combat online scams.
