Infinite Messaging - Instant Messaging Isn't Just For Humans Anymore

With all the talk about how instant messaging is becoming more popular in the workplace, and with everyone trying to come up with "corporate instant messaging" programs that don't seem to do much, here's a different business application for instant messaging that seems to make much more sense: integrating instant messaging into alert and notification systems. If a server goes down, let it send an instant message to the person (or people) responsible for getting it started again. It's faster than email, and is more likely to get that person's attention quickly.
