Instant Messaging Matures In The Office
from the i-love-my-im dept
For about 5 years now, I've been a huge fan of instant messaging. I use it to keep in touch with friends, family and coworkers when writing an email would simply be too unwieldy. IM affords the ability to have a real conversation, as opposed to the staccato-style conversations that email threads seem to become. TIME.com discusses the growth of instant messaging at the office. Interestingly, studies show that people on IM at work don't waste too much time chatting with friends, and their productivity gain would outweigh any socializing.
