The Digital Divide Is Shrinking

from the that-makes-sense dept

For all the worries about the "digital divide", here's yet another study showing that the digital divide is shrinking. More and more people are becoming computer and internet literate - even those in older generations. Of course, that doesn't mean there isn't a digital divide, or that it's not a serious problem for some people. However, it could mean that it will gradually go away over time. The report still shows that 41% of Americans don't log onto the internet in a normal week. The question I have, though, is how many of those people would have their lives improved (better job?) if they were internet literate, and for how many would it make no difference?
