Kazaa Says Legal Fees Too Expensive

from the pushed-out-by-those-with-the-big-bucks dept

The company that originally created Kazaa says that they've basically run out of money for their lawsuit against the big record labels and are giving up. The big shot lawyer they had hired to defend them has moved on, and the company has said they can't afford to continue the lawsuit. Unfortunately, this could mean that the case never actually gets decided on its merits, and was won because the record labels could throw enough cash out there to wear out Kazaa. The article also details the confusing (and somewhat questionable) attempts by the original Kazaa creators to get the software out to a number of other companies who can continue their work. In the end, it seems like a legal judgment one way or the other isn't going to make much of a difference - since the software is out there.
