DVR Patent Wars
from the call-in-the-lawyers dept
Ah, nothing like a good legal battle over competing patents. Tivo has had their patents in place for a while, and recently SonicBLUE got their digital video recorder patents as well... so it was only a matter of time until the two clashed. SonicBLUE has approached Tivo about licensing their patent, which Tivo says is a ridiculous idea. Expect stupid expensive lawsuits to follow. Of course, in the end, some sort of cross-licensing deal will be worked out, probably after a ton of money has been wasted for no good reason.
