Why You Really Should RTFM

from the read-everything dept

I, like most people I know, have little time for actually reading the instructions that come with various technical toys and gadgets. Why bother? Well, here's a column by a guy who actually did follow the instructions, but missed the little slip of paper "Addendum" that told him what the instructions actually said were completely wrong. In fact, they were so completely wrong they fried his processor and his motherboard. The moral of the story (according to the writer) is that you should make sure to read everything. I think it just means you should read nothing since obviously the manual writers have no idea what they're doing either.
