AltaVista Taking Its Time Updating Regional Links
from the and-they-can't-count-either dept
AltaVista, which heavily promotes their regional index pages, hasn't actually updated them since April. They claim that this is because they're "merging" the index data to make a better user experience - though that seems like quite a long time to merge some databases. There's also an amusing quote near the end when the spokesperson says that they normally only update the index pages every 6 weeks, so in this case they just skipped one update. Of course, if you do the math (and the reporter did), they've obviously skipped more than one update - and the spokesperson had no comment on that.
