Put Yourself In A Video Game

from the personalization dept

The NY Times (evil, registration requiring tyrants that they are) is running an article about “photo booths” that some stores are testing that will give you a 3D image of your own head on a CD-ROM which can than be inserted into various video games. Apparently, it’s becoming quite popular to put your own head into video games. I’d hate to think of what some random person’s head might look like on Lara Croft, but that’s a whole different issue. The article also mentions other uses for 3D scanners, such as creating an avatar to try on clothes for online shopping, or to create a record of your “body image” in case you need some sort of “reconstructive surgery”.
