For years people have been talking about using avatars online. There have been many attempts (many of which were quite cool) that all failed eventually. Now people are beginning to talk about avatars again. We've had a few articles recently on Techdirt about advances using avatars, so I figured this article was a good one as well. It talks about Aerosmith making avatars for their website, as well as more general things happening in the world of avatars. While I still think they're cool, I'm not convinced that most people will find them interesting enough to actually use once they get past the novelty factor.
