More Than 200 Dot Coms Died In 2000
from the ouch dept
A new study shows that at least 210 dot coms closed last year. Those closures caused the loss of $1.5 billion in investments and as many as 15,000 jobs. Of course, relatively speaking, this isn't really that much. Many venture capitalists have single funds that are pushing $1.5 billion these days, and the single closure of Montgomery Wards effected a hell of a lot more people than all these dot com closings combined. Of course, it still sounds good to pretend that the internet is dying, and taking the rest of the economy with it.
