The Guy Who Voted No on the Spam Bill

from the dr.-no dept

There's been a lot of hype about Congress passing the spam bill by a vast majority. In fact, only one Congressman voted "No", and Wired takes a look at why he did so. The article is a bit jokey, but I do think it's a valid point to bring up for discussion. I can't stand spam, and do think that something to prevent it would be helpful. But, at the same time, I'm always wary to open the door for government regulation that might prove very costly.

    Libertarianism

    by Ed

I applaud the guy for standing up for his libertarian principles, but, ya know, spam kind of proves that pure libertarianism won't work in the real world. It would be nice if it did, but as long as 1-2% of the population are pure assholes (my estimate based on life experience) we still need a functioning government.
