Wired is running an article about how using humans to search the internet is a new craze. Of course, I remember three years ago companies like humansearch.com (which now appears to be out of business) were doing the exact same thing. It was a pretty good service too. When they first launched, it was free, and I would send research requests to them, and within a day or so I'd get back a long list of URLs to check out. The problem they had was they couldn't figure out how to make money, and eventually had to start charging. The value there wasn't enough for me so I stopped using them.
