What this article is missing is the fact that if they allow us to bring our drinks past security, we no longer have to purchase those same drinks at twice the price. Alot of the items on the restricted list you can purchase for a giant hike in price in any of the 'stores' past security. You can purchase a steel back scratchier!! Anyone with training can do major damage with that. If they allow us to bring what we want, the airports will see a massive drop in revenue. The TSA is doing what it is designed for. Protecting the airport. That also means protecting revenue.
I feel the same way.
Can Techdirt sue? They bogus take down notice was clearly infringing on free speech.
My kids play a free online game called League of Legend. It is completely free but you can purchase several things in the game to 'complete' your toon. My children constantly spend part of their allowance on enhancing their toons.
Free does make money!
Is it legal for police to click the two buttons on my phone to unlock it and then view all the contents of my cell? If i don't give him permission, that is the basic definition of hacking.
The real reason the police do not want others to be warned of their speeding is due to revenue, plain and simple. When you flash your lights, you are reminding others to pay attention to the legal posted speed and to be safe. Police WANT/NEED to catch people speeding to make up what that county, city, etc has lost in other revenue. If it were a safety issue, then the police would welcome people reminding others to pay attention to the posted speed.
So, as a criminal, i can kill someone or rob a bank BUT record myself doing it.. then claim copyright and not allow any of the victims to tell anyone what happened. The police pick me up and i give them a FULL confession... BUT i record myself and they cannot use my confession.
How about a bill collector harassing you or breaking the law but recording it so you cannot file a complaint?
This is the type of thing that can get WAY out of control.
"It appears that they're saying they didn't hijack searches so much as hijack typo searches"
Hijacking ANY search, even if it is a typo search, is hijacking. Any explanation to the contrary is merely 'lawyer talk'... I wish judges would use the VERY simple analogy to see the truth... if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it IS a duck.
What are the consequences of filing a false take down order? and why are the penalties not more severe?
This is how a police officer should handle himself. The camera guy was obviously trying to provoke anything at all and the police officer stayed calm and did as he needed to do. I wish he worked in my district. He could teach the police around my home a thing or two.
yes, i said movies and for that i apologize. Insert the word music, please
for now, they RIAA has tons of support from all the bribes, but there may be a time, hopefully soon, when they have someone in the Govt with power that does not like them. I say search the RIAA and see just how many bribes they have given out to get the results they always want. See how many torrents they themselves have posted just to whine and bitch about it later.
I would love to know how many companies they have hired to put out false torrents with the same name as the movie the RIAA has at the movie theater, then force the RIAA to explain how come it is illegal to download the movie torrent when they are themselves paying companies to put them out there. All of this information is on the RIAA computers.
I think the RIAA should sign an agreement to voluntarily forgo the protections of the 4th Amendment. Mabe then we will take them seriously.
They should have called it 'Evinspacey, you can add the K because if we do, we will get sued.'
I completely agree. For her to get such a high paying job, my question is this. When did she apply? How long has she considered this completely life changing move? My answer is this. She is corrupt. she knew a favorable vote would get her that job. They need to dig into each and every email and phone call and see just when she was bought off. The entire merger should be dismantled in the face of this corruption.
When you add in the story about your iphone detailing each and every place you have visited, you really have problems. My main concern is the statement that this device bypasses passwords. That is hacking plain and simple. Even with a warrant, you have to specify if you will be bypassing passwords without the users consent. Mabe the Michigan State Police should be brought up on charges.
What if the police GPS my vehicle, then i move it into my garage. They are now recording my movements inside my private property. That is a clear violation of my rights. Even if i have it parked in my private driveway, they are still invading my rights. If i go to a friends and park in my friends driveway, they are invading rights.
I know the police have a job to do, but removing the rights of law abiding citizens should not be on the list of things they (the government) should take away.
If the police suspect someone of committing illegal acts, get a warrant. It is that easy. If the suspicion is not up to warrant level, then you ARE invading the rights of the individual.
Seriously??? They want US to feel sorry for THEM???? They were the ones using mafia style techniques to extort money from anyone they could.. and they are the victim???? Give me a break.
what are the consequences of filing a false take down notice? Why are there not lawyers out there getting rich from counter suing these people???
Wikileaks should post VERY sensitive information on Rep Issa's site then let everyone know what they did. Issa then can admit he is the same type of 'terrorist' that Wikileaks is, or he can deny!!!
The museum is clearly trying to use the legal system to threaten and harass Mr. Hawk. The mob used any tactic they deemed necessary to accomplish their goals. We are seeing more and more of this from corporations and bigger companies. They decided to use the threat of law (even when they know the people they are threatening does not have the resources to counter sue) to get their way. The unfortunate part is that they are winning. I wish there were more great defense lawyers that would take on companies like this pro bono and counter sue the hell out of them.
NSA
Mabe they asked the NSA and cannot reveal the source!!!!
