Celebrity Blogs Catching On

from the oh-great dept

Apparently celebrities are the latest group to pick up on the whole blogging bandwagon. While they’re all using it for different purposes, they generally see it as a good way to get their own views across – rather than what the various entertainment magazines and television shows say for them. Of course, for many celebrities, they see the blog as just yet another promotional platform for their career – though, readers find those less interesting (and clearly, less authentic). Readers seem much more impressed when the celebrity blogs are (1) clearly written by the celebrity him or herself, rather than a PR flak and (2) expresses real opinions on things outside of their career. Fans of the celeb seem to feel that the blog is more of a “personal conversation”. This makes sense. I know many people who read blogs feel they have some sort of personal relationship with the writer, even if the writer has no idea they exist.
