  • Another View Of The Netflix Price Hike: It's Speeding Up The Shift To Online Streaming

    Thanatos ( profile ), 01 Aug, 2011 @ 11:11am

And what happens when streaming dies off due to telecos implementing data caps on their broadband service? I have AT&T and they just capped us off at 150GB per month - unless you want to pay $10 for each 50GB over that. I use, on average, 350-400GB per month - most of which comes from streaming movies and shows online. I may as well cancel my Netflix and Hulu if I have to worry about going over their damned limits every month! And if I can't stream media, then why should I even bother paying for broadband at all? I can check email and visit a few non-streaming sites with lousy assed dial-up!

And with smartphones, AFTER AT&T decided to go to tiered data plans to charge us out the ass more, NOW they are throttling the data flow!!!

Thanks to corporations like AT&T, the U.S. is falling behind the rest of the world pitifully in Internet broadband access. Does anyone else find it pathetic that North Korea makes the entire US look like it's still using 1200baud modems?!?!

  • What Idea/Expression Dichotomy? Microsoft Sued For Having Sorta Similar Commercials

    Thanatos ( profile ), 18 Jul, 2011 @ 11:33am

Don't care. Microsoft sues people right and left over BS on a daily basis - Not because they have actually been slighted, but because they are playing 3 year old at someone having a better product than them. Hope everyone sues them for complete BS reasons - show them what it's like!

  • Major US ISPs Agree To Five Strikes Plan, Rather Than Three

    Thanatos ( profile ), 07 Jul, 2011 @ 10:56am

We could always go back to posting our stuff on Usenet! Hell, I still download a boatload of stuff from Usenet and my ISP can't see what I am downloading because I use an anonymous Usenet service with 256bit encrypted connection to it both ways.

Usenet is full of SPAM and malware these days, but I still find what I want on there and work around it. It could be cleaned back up a bit and brought back to life. There are more than one way to skin a cat and the ISPs would have to constantly figure out ways at detecting us doing anything.

  • TSA Frisks A Baby; Says The Stroller Set Off 'Explosives' Alarm

Would be some dead TSA agents if they tried that shit with my kid!!! I'll spit in the face of ANY TSA agent I see on the street!

  • 'Economics In One Lesson' Apparently Doesn't Include Pricing; Kindle Version Most Expensive

    Thanatos ( profile ), 22 Apr, 2011 @ 06:54pm

I never have understood why e-books aren't tremendously less expensive than they are. No production costs what-so-ever, no overhead, no damaged books to return......They should be at least half the price that they are! Until they are, I won't be buying any e-books or e-book readers. I do have Kindle, Nook and Kobo on my Droid X, but I have never bought a book for them, I only download the free books from their stores.

  • Studios Offering $30 Movie Rentals; Theater Owner Complains That He Can't Compete With That

    Thanatos ( profile ), 21 Apr, 2011 @ 08:11am

    Lame experience

I haven't been to a movie theater in more years than I can count. Why on Earth would I want to pay that kind of money for relatively uncomfortable seats (with God know what in them) to try to watch a movie with people talking and making noise during it?! Last time I went to a movie there was a guy behind me who stayed on his cell phone, telling his mother about the movie, the whole way through it! And people talking to the characters on the screen like they can hear them or something?!?!

I have a nice LARGE HDTV with a nice loud surround system, I have a refrigerator full of snacks and drinks, I can pause the movie to go grab a snack when I want and I don't have to tolerate morons talking! Screw the "social experience"! And I can wait the 3 months for a movie to hit Blu-Ray. For what it costs in ticket and snack to see a movie, I can just wait and pay the same to buy it.....or pay a buck a RedBox to rent it!

  • Phone Calls Are So Last Century

    Thanatos ( profile ), 24 Mar, 2011 @ 08:16am

I have a lowly 500 minute plan on my cell phone, with the 5 family and friends thing from the old Alltel which grandfathered in when Verizon took over. The MOST that I have ever used is 40 minutes in a month. I also have no long distance plan on my home phone. I don't make phone calls! Almost everything that I have to say to anyone is send via email, text, IM, Facebook or Twitter.

I LOATHE talking on a phone and avoid it as much as humanly possible.

  • $2.3 Billion Lawsuit Against China For Copyright Infringement In Green Dam Filter Software Moves Forward

    Thanatos ( profile ), 22 Feb, 2011 @ 05:07am

    Re: Re: Human Rights

Very true. The U.S. has only 5% of the Earth's population, but has 25% of the world's prisoners. A pretty sad statistic from a "free" country. Even more sad that the VAST majority of people in jails don't belong in jail to begin with.

The U.S. notoriously supports SEVERAL countries known for their human rights violations because they kiss the U.S.'s behind, while condemning other countries that do the same thing who don't play ball with the country. It's FAR from a country that should be speaking against human rights violations with it's past and present.

Re: Ports in California to retailiate for ports of software

That wouldn't work because Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target and a host of other "American" stores would go out of business and you'd never see another piece of electronics in the US......lol Get real! Tick China off with something like that and you'd better be prepared to go without a LOT of stuff.....Not to mention a lot of cheap stuff - Anyone care for a $3000 iPad? California would have a meltdown

  • US Investigators Can't Find Any Direct Connection Between Manning And Assange

    Thanatos ( profile ), 26 Jan, 2011 @ 02:23am

Re: How often do hard drives fail?

How many times over the last few years have we heard of federal (and corporate for that matter) employees losing or getting stolen laptops with a sorts of data on them?

For that matter, perhaps he handed them off to me and I gave them to Julian.

Any way it goes, they are treating Manning in a way that is so morally reprehensible that the who's did who banter is moot. Over a year in solitary confinement without being brought to trial because the government is too effin retarded to be able to make a case! Need to lock ever government official up in a VERY deep hole and fill it in with concrete.
