I like how the argument when getting rid of the Medallions is always that there will be to many people trying to run Cabs or whatever and that there will be a glut and no one will be able to make any money!!!!
In a free Market without Government out of the way, Prices will drop and if there's to many people doing it and making no money, they'll leave and do something else and the market will stabilize to a working level for those left. It won't happen overnight. Who knows what that real world number will end up being. Let the free Market work it out, not Government!!!
This is why NONE of this 3rd party CRAP should ever be pre-installed on a new computer. It should Windows ONLY, free of all other crap!!!
Is it really worth it to get a Bad Reputation for this garbage? I know Windows like Android has issues with making any money on razer thin profits and they do this crap to try and make a little money. How much do you really get to have this crap installed on a PC? $20? Here's a idea, bump the price of the PC up $20 and remove ALL of that crap.
Why not be known for Not throwing CRAP on your PC's!!!
Using Netflix as a example really is pretty dumb! They're whining about Netflix, a service that's on just about every platform you can think of. I'm sure on more platforms then just about any app I can think of. If they thought Netflix on Blackberry made any sense, they'd make a App on that one also.
Forcing a company to make a App on your platform has nothing at all to do with Net neutrality. If this is the person heading BlackBerry, no one they are still having problems. They keep hiring Idiots to lead their company!!!
The LAST thing any company should want is forcing Company's to write software on other platforms. When they were all high and mighty with BBM and keeping people on their own platform because of it. That are just fine for them. Only when everyone leave after a number of years did they support BBM on other platforms, Android and iOS. By the way, is it on Windows Phone? Not that I'm away of, why not??? How about TIZEN? They're really doing a piss poor job themselves. That's only one App of theirs and it's only on a few devices.
If this is the person leading BlackBerry, they're doomed!!!
I wish I was her age!!!! She's so worried abut her age, but a quick look in a few of her pictures, she doesn't mind having Ron Jeremy's arm around her in a picture!!! Who doesn't know who he is? Isn't that worse for your image then your young age? Now people think of you as a PORN Star now!!!
I think Copyright shouldn't last more then 10-20 years. You've made your money and then some after that long. Try to come out with something NEW in the time frame!!! You know, Innovate, not sit on it for your whole life and your' kids life and your grand kids life. Most of it at this point should be dumped into the Public Domain.
Clinton has been making millions going out and doing speeches!!! Carter I'm kind of up in the air in. He's been great for Habitat for Humanity over the years, but then he gets stupid with North Korea!!! He was the worse president ever in modern times, well until Obama took his place. How he ever got a second term? Well other then the fact we ended up with yet another RINO for the republican pick.
Water boarding and forced to listen to Britney Spears Music is not Torture. It may not be pleasant, but you'll live and no real harm actually came to you!!!
Torture would be things that actually hurt you. Pulling your nails off. Breaking fingers. Electrocution, Stabbing, to the rally bad stuff, Burning you alive or slowly cutting off your head while alive!!! There's really no coming back from that. You're DEAD!!!! The others are painful, maybe you'll die from it in time. Water boarding, please, what a joke. Once it's over, There's not a mark on you. Quite frankly a little water boarding or music is 10000000 times better then anything you would get if things were reversed. That's a proven fact.
How about throwing his butt in JAIL until such time as all these documents show up!!! It can't be good with as much trouble they're going threw to keep them under wraps and ignoring court orders on top of it. Ignore Congress, and now ignoring the courts. Any normal person would have been thrown in jail long ago.
Wifi calling is one of the reasons I went with T-Mobile. I don't get a strong signal outside work and in the building it's about dead to dead where I am and no one else is any better. At home it's better, but Wifi Calling is clearer. At my brothers house, he's in a dead zone. My Cell works great there because of Wifi Calling. Works great on my iPhone 6.
I have heard AT&T was getting it for early this year. I'm just glad I don't have to rush out of my office to outside before the person hangs up because they can't hear me when I can kind of hear them because of a single bar signal. For the most part T-Mobile has been great.
It's been just as good as AT&T was signal wise when I was with them without all the Negatives like my phone being locked down, and the plus like with Wifi Calling, or that nice ASUS Router I got for free from them. Why not, it was free. Walked into a store and just asked for one. Didn't cost me a penny.
There was a time when they had kids duck under their desks in case of a Nuke!!! So they had Nuke drills, for all the good that would do, and of course it didn't last.
I think this gun thing is just a dumb idea. It scares kids for no good reason. Do you really think if it ever happened it's going to be at a school where the kids have been practacing. The Odds are pretty high that it'll never happen. But if it did, all this practice buy the kids will go right out the window!!!
Here's a Idea, teachers with Guns!!! They'd be able to protect their kids!!! You're far less likely to go shooting up a school when you know there's teachers there with Guns. The last thing you want to do is have signs out side saying 'Gun Free Zone'!!! Now that's a easy target to kill a whole bunch of people before you run out of bullets and kill yourself.
You can ban guns, it doesn't stop crazy people!!! There's been mass killings in schools in Japan for example and all that was used was a Knife!!! They don't have guns, but hey, a knife kills Kids just as well. Not quite as fast but works. Don't need a Gun or a Knife, just make a bomb! That's not hard to do. There's all kinds of things you can buy at Home Depot to kill a whole bunch of people. Should we ban Pressure Cookers? Ban Nails? ,Ban Pipes? Knifes, Ban a huge long list of things. you can still kill people with your bare hands if you want to.
Having these types of drill will do NOTHING. Maybe it'll get the Teachers to lock the doors quicker for all the good that does as you can shoot out the lock if you wanted. These thing generally don't last long. A few minutes and it's over with, the damage is done.
Where I live it's no problem to buy a Cable modem and start up service!!! In fact I had gotten my Cable modem before they had the service even running yet. I knew it was coming and I got the modem and I wait until they flipped the switch. Once you connect, you go directly to their sign up page, you can't do anything else. Once you're signed up, you're ready to do. Wasn't hard. Signing up for anything is always a snap, it's the canceling. It's NOT easy to do. Yo can't do it online, you have to CAL and talk to a real person, which is why they have these retention departments to try to keep you on their service.
This is how I got U-Verse to drop my cheap 1 year plan that shot up after the year was up, I just threaten to leave and go with Comcast. It wouldn't have been much more for much faster service. I'd need to run a new wire from outside my house to my Closet where everything else is at, Not a huge deal. I got them back down to $35 a month for another year.
When the year is up, I'll do it again. If I have to I'll jump to Comcast for Internet Only, Get one of their 6 month to year lower price deals, and do the same thing. if they don't play along I can jump back to U-Verse again.
If you're dumb enough to just sit there and take high prices year after year after year, that's on you. If people wised up, prices would just drop and we wouldn't have to play these silly games.
I have U-Verse and my download speed is suppose to be 18 Mbps Max, I get around 12. That's more then fast enough to stream HD from Netflix!!! I stream all the time with no issues.
I cut the cord from Comcast when I got my house a couple years ago and went with U-Verse, though I cut the cord with TV service with Comcast a few months before that.
I think paying a bunch of money for TV service is dumb!!! Why are channels like ESPN which only a small percentage watch get the most money? Subsidized by everyone else with TV service. When I got my house, the first thing I did was put up a large antenna. When I look around at where I live and don't see any others, I just think SUCKERS!!!
I get ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW, PBS, etc all in HD and 5.1 surround for FREE Legally!!! I record using my PC and Media Center and can watch all that content on one of my 3 HDTV's with full DVR controls. Start watching in the family room and continue in the Bedroom. Zero monthly fee's!!! The upfront costs of some hardware is paid off in no time flat with all the money you're saving.
Then there's this thing call the Internet where you can pretty much watch any cable show you want Legally or not, plus Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I have more to watch now then ever before and not enough hours in the day.
My brother just moved into another house a few weeks ago and this time he threw up a Antenna also. Finally got his wife on board to stop paying for TV. She likes all those housewives shows. They're kids pretty much watch only Netflix Kids section. They didn't even know what a commercial was for quite some time. They do have Comcast for Internet service. Myself, I like my $35 a month service!!! I used to pay Comcast $170 a month and that was just for some basic stuff.
When I left Comcast a couple years ago, I was paying $170 a month for Mid speed Internet and HD TV service with a Duel HD tuner Cable box. That's it. It was only me living at my place. I got sick of it and the bill shooting up 10 times faster then my pay check and for what? I can't possibly watch enough TV and use the Internet enough to justify that price. $170 a month is $2,040 per year and it's only going up!!! In 10 years time, that's $20,400. 10 years is not very long and people sign up and pretty much on it for years and years and years. I had Comcast for 18 years myself. Of course I didn't start out with Internet at the time because they didn't offer that service way back then.
To me $2,040 is a lot of money!!! A lot of money and for what? I have Internet only from AT&T U-Verse, on second year now, and pay $35 a month. It's not as fast, but fast enough to stream HD content and do everything I need to do!!! That's $420 per year. So I'm saving $1,620 per year. That's money staying in my pocket and not going to Comcast or anyone else for that matter. What would you do with that much savings per year? Take a vacation. Put a little away for retirement, etc. I guess if you were rich with money to burn then $1,620 isn't that much!!!
My brother finally got his wife on board. His kids pretty much watch Netflix Kids stuff only. I get ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CW, PBS and others in HD and 5.1 surround for FREE Legally with a Antenna. I also have a better picture then I ever did with Comcast and it's even better yet then Satellite.
Using my Windows 7 PC, I record onto it using Media Center and a couple HD Duel Hometune tuners that plug into your Ethernet Network. I can record up to 4 shows at once while watching something else. I have full DVR controls. I can watch on one of my 3 HDTV's all of that recorded content using Xbox 360's (Which these days is pretty cheap NEW at $199) Or buy a used one and save. Don't need a Kinect or a hard Drive for that matter. You don't even need a Gold Live subscription and you can set up so that they boot up directly into Media Center Extender. I have Full DVR controls. I use Harmony 900 remotes. I can start watching in the family room, and continue on in the bedroom. You can hook 4-5 extenders to a single Media Center PC if they're wired for HD. There's not enough wireless bandwidth but for 1 extender for HD content. I wired my house with Gigabit Ethernet!!!
There's also a few other options. Tivo for one, but it's expensive with a $15 a month subscription and Lifetime price is crazy high!!! There's some others like Tablo, that have a 2 or 4 tuner box, you add a external HDD of your choice in size, Bigger is better of course, and you can place it anywhere with a antenna connection and Ethernet. Hide it if you like. You control with like a iOS device and play onto a ROKU or a Chromecast device. So there's some extra costs in that way with the HDD and the Media streaming device. But monthly service is $4.99, a year is $49.99 and lifetime is $149.99. There's a lot to like about it.
There's also Simple.TV and they have a 2 tuner box. It's a little differnt in features, so read the FAQ for both of them. It also has the same price plans as Tablo. The features are a little different. These boxes didn't exist a couple years ago or maybe I would have gone with Tablo.
I get enough live sports on the broadcast channels. I can live without Monday Night Football on ESPN. There's always a BAR or friends house to watch once in a while. If you're someplace that you can't get anything form a Antenna, then you're stuck with Satellite. When I look around where I live and don't see a single antenna anywhere, I laugh and think SUCKERS!!!!
With the Internet these days, there's Legal and not so legal ways to watch pretty much any cable show you want anyway. I love The Walking Dead on AMC. You can get a Season pass on Amazon, I get the SD version which is more then good enough, you can watch the new Episodes on Monday after it airs Sunday night. Commercial free!!! All that money you're saving, buying a few season passes is a drop in the bucket.
Why pay HBO $15 a month? How much content do you watch. One or 2 shows or is that on all the time? If all you have on is HBO, great it might be worth it, but you're paying for all the other channels that you're not watching to get it. $15 a month is $180 per year. Why not just buy a Season when it comes out on DVD? Watch at your own pace. Maybe part of your Netflix DVD plan, you can watch your HBO shows that way. It's another way to save some money. If/When you can buy HBO and stream on the Internet only, then maybe that will work for those that mainly just watch a lot of HBO.
For my home phone, I moved to VOIP, my OOMA Box and use my existing Internet service. When I lived in one town I switched my number over to it and was using it with Comcast, and when I moved to another town I just grabbed my OOMA box and brought it with me and plugged into my AT&T U-Verse internet service and had my home phone back. Then I had my Dad move into my house and I got his Number transferred also to my OOMA Box and he lived is yet another town. For 2 numbers I'm forced to pay for their service besides the Taxes, so it's about $15 a month for both lines with all kinds of features. I have a phone for each line. They each have a different ring tone and their own mail boxes. I get my own calls and He gets his own calls on our phone numbers we've had for years. 20 years now for me, and like 30+ years for him. That's yet another way to save money. Best thing is the calls sound better. I don't have the static like I did with my phone service which used to be on AT&T before I went to VOIP.
Many ways to so money. I don't miss Cable service at all!!! I have more content to watch then time by a mile. Why be a sucker throwing away good money when there's no need to? Why should they get richer while you get broker? I'm just saying.
