    Re: Re:

They have already decided that sharing your music files over a network is illegal, as well as sharing the thumb drive/eternal hard drive. Not that I agree, but they have already set a precedent.

As for the "Should WD obtain licenses or should hard drives be locked down with DRM so only one person can access it?" Don't give the damn RIAA any more stupid ideas! =P

Ths is why I have so much trouble as a photographer...

"One would expect security video to be confidential, not some sort of voyeuristic tool."

There is no implied confidentiality in security video, as a moter of fact there is an implied use in all security videos. Why would it be private, it's there to catch people doing stupid things they shouldn't(Theft, Vandalism, etc.)

As some have mentioned this is in on private property, which is not actually at all related to the use or recording of the video. People are mixing up private/public property and private/public spaces. If private property is opened up for public use(such as a mall, museue, etc) it is considered a public space.

There is no "Reasonable Expectation of Privacy" in a public space. Therefore your picture can be taken and video recorded at will. Most people think that jsut because they are in a Mall, or at the Airport, or in a club that I can't take pictures of them. Acctually the opposite is true, I have every right to take your picture.

People just need to grow up and stop being stupid about things like this. The lady messed up and now like a second grade kid has had her feelings hurt.

    Should be protected

McBane, Zombie MJ, and Thor should be protected by the parody laws. There should be no room for legal action.

As a photographer, generally the way it works out for copyrights on the subject of the photograph it has been determined that a photograph is a form of art, and can give an interpretation of the subject. The interpretation makes the photograph new material. There are a few rules about this, but in general, you own the photograph and not the subject and can sell the photograph(not the subject)...

Sound like greedy people trying to get free money...

I start even earlier... (as Joshua)

Forget waiting for my computer to boot up. I start charging my employer the instant I get out of my car in the parking lot. Reason being its a good 15 minute walk from the parking lot to the building, then about 5 minutes to get to my floor, thats not counting if security stops me for not having a badge that day. Of course my work does not have a problem with this policy since its cheaper to pay us lowly hourly employees an extra 20 minutes than it is to get someone to shuttle us from the parking lot to the building. I don't how ever continue to charge them once I leave my office for the day.

I can see the booting up process, but not the shutting down process being paid by the employer. Forget WHEN I'm actually working(after boot up), the boot time is time I'm not enabled to do my own stuff therefore it is company time.

That would be like saying I don't get paid while waiting for code to compile... As I'm just watching a compiler log and not really 'working'.
