In many cases that would be true but obviously he is just a puppet with big money's hand up his ass. There is a loophole that lets these criminals keep a lot of the contributions when they leave office.
Don't have a lot of time right now so I'll just hit the high points. Perhaps some Islamic countries are not as radical as others but any country predominately Muslim will have factions. If it's 2% in some countries or 20% in others it will be there. It only took 19 hijackers to kill over 2,000 people. These were from "friendly" countries like Egypt, United Emirates and Saudia Arabia. As far as the nuclear threat many experts are saying it is not a matter of if, it's when. A great deal of atomic materials from the former USSR are unaccounted for. First it will probably be a dirty bomb but eventually they will achieve thermal. Won't matter much if they are doing it to please Allah or political reasons.
It's a little hard to separate the religion from the politics when many Mid East countries range from heavily to completely under control of the Muslims. Even governments that have some moderate influence protected Osama Bin Laden for a decade. All of the 9/11 attackers were from countries supposedly friendly to us. Sure, there some nut cases and even terrorists who call themselves Christian. In Islamic countries they build shrines to the "martyrs" who strap on bomb vests and set them off in markets and buses to kill their enemies even when that includes women and children. The families of these heroes receive support payments. 70 virgins await in paradise for them to pop their cherries. Extremism will always exist in any religion. Centuries ago the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of England were responsible for ghastly atrocities. In no religion today is it so predominate as it is in Islam. It is only a matter of time until they achieve their goal of setting off a nuclear bomb in a large American city. The mutually assured destruction that kept the Soviets at bay does not matter to them.
Just to add this thought: The Westboro are a very small group of extremists who have few members that are not part of Fred Phelps family and are an embarrassment and universally scorned by virtually every Christian church. No deaths have resulted from their hateful actions. They are not killing people.
I'm just remembering the massive rallies all over the Mid East celebrating and cheering loudly when the towers fell. If Christians attacked embassies and caused riots world wide that results in hundreds of deaths any time someone insults their beliefs I would think differently. If the Muslims truly followed the teachings of Muhammad they would be the "religion of peace" they claim to be. The percentage of extremists is a lot larger than the politically correct liberals want to admit.
I suppose if there is a religion that flies jetliners into buildings, blow themselves up, stone their daughters for kissing a boy, start deadly riots over a cartoon etc. maybe you shouldn't perform in a video they would consider blasphemous. Does the name Salman Rushdie mean anything to you?
No one would have ever paid attention to this whiny bitch if she had just kept her mouth shut. I have to wonder if it was her intention to put this whole thing into Streisand overdrive for her 15 minutes of fame?
True. They really wouldn't have to in this case because it has been all over the web what a stinker this video is. I guess if I want the right to spout off things others may not agree with we have to defend trash like this.
They could include the words "This video is a piece of shit but it is a piece of shit that is protected by the first amendment. If they can take this down they can remove something that is actually of value in the future".
All Cox cares about is that you buy their top tier package. Since then I have gone well over every month. They send me an a notification email when I exceed my cap but have never charged me or send any threatening emails. They pushed me to buy the ultimate package so they got what they wanted.
In the famous words of Bill Cosby: "That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard". Make about as much as assuming that the person paying the bill at an IP address is an infringer. What if the car has just been stolen and not reported? Who is going to be held responsible when a cop issues a minor ticket to a driver that turns out to be drunk and he kills someone a few minutes later? Cops are trained to spot even subtle sings of impairment. They could also recognize wanted criminals or fleeing suspects from a crime just committed. They might see weapons in a car on the way to a drive by shooting. Unfortunately some risk is involved in being in law enforcement. That includes unexpected results at what appears to be a routine traffic stop. Don't you ever watch "Cops"? If you don't have the balls for that go into another line of work.
Just made them look like complete idiots. The whole world is laughing at their pointless and childish tantrum. Even they knew it would not stop the leaks. If they really just wanted to be destructive they could have just taken a hammer to the hard drive since that is the only part that contained any data. This laptop was probably just a decoy anyway.
My point is even someone with very basic computer skills knows that a document can only be temporarily stored in RAM and is gone as soon as you shut down. This was just childish retribution for embarrassing the government. They even knew that Rusbridger isn't the only reporter that has the documents. You would think that they would at least want to know what else Snowden leaked because it is obvious they don't have a clue.
Yes, those are dangerous occupations. Accidents do happen but they occour unexpectedly. Working at Boeing would be considered a reasonably safe job but in my years there I know of 4 accidental deaths. None of them had a clue when they came to work that a crane load would fall or they would be hit by a fork lift. The difference is police officers knowingly go into dangerous situations. They get a call of shots fired or a holdup in progress they move in even though it could mean they could be killed.
Several of you have pointed out the code of silence prevalent in so many police departments. Sad but unfortunately true. Even good cops don't like snitches. I don't have an answer of how to change this except for offering better protection for whistle blowers.
I still have comfort in knowing if someone breaks into my house and I call 911 that cops will show up and come in not knowing if the intruder is armed and they will become the next entry on the Officer Down web site.
One good thing is I believe the Wichita police chief is a man of integrity and has shown this on many occasions. If something like what happened in Omaha occurred here I think most of these guys would be quickly suspended or fired.
Are these idiots really so technically ignorant that they didn't know that if they wanted to get rid of the documents that all they had to do was remove the hard drive and use a secure erase program to fill every sector with ones and zeros? The whole thing reminded me of the classic scene in the movie Office Space when they took the fax machine to the field and smashed it. Drills, angle grinders, dremel tools etc? Really? Did they think that grinding down the motherboard was necessary? Did they think Rusbridger was bluffing when he told them there were other copies? David Cameron is a clueless idiot.
It angers me when you hear about bad cops because they are the ones making the headlines and not the vast majority of good officers who are risking their lives every day to protect us. When you get situations like this where there are so many from one department it means that the higher ranking officials there have failed to set standards and discipline cops who get out of line. I have seen many examples over the years of our local department suspending, firing and even prosecuting cops who violate policy. The Wichita police chief would never tolerate what these cops did. Heads would roll.
