    Re: Hey, a thought.

According to the Uniform Military Standards of Justice a soldier has the right to disobey an illegal order. I wonder how many ever do?

I know that the Russians treated the Germans with extreme cruelty and only a fraction of the prisoners survived. They were taking revenge for the atrocities they suffered. Even among our other allies the US had the best reputation for humane treatment. Our cities were never occupied or bombed. I can only go by what I was told by the older Germans that I met there. Some had been shipped to the states and they said they were treated very well.

A good cop would want everything he did recorded. There are those who will make false claims seeking money. If the cop did nothing wrong he would want proof of that. I saw a Judge Judy episode where this girl who thought she should have special privileges because her dad was a cop was lying her ass off about a traffic stop. When the cop replied that he had the whole event recorded you could tell this spoiled brat nearly shit herself. The cop did everything by the book and was never impolite or even raised his voice. (I personally would have bitch slapped her) Had he not had this recording it would have ended with he said she said. Judge Judy not only awarded the maximum amount but gave her a court order to write a letter of apology to his captain requesting that this be removed from the officer's jacket. It would serve these cops right who do not want to be recorded if someone files a false complaint and they have no way to prove it.

I served in the Army in the 70's stationed in Germany. I was told by a number of Germans that they had knowledge that the US treated POW's humanely and because of that many soldiers were more willing to surrender especially toward the end. Terrorism does not compare to the danger the whole world faced had the Nazis won yet we did not torture them. Even 9/11 pales compared to the 50 million lives lost in WWII.

I can attest to the fact that files were not deleted for lack of downloads. I had personal files that I never gave out the URL that had never been downloaded. Also some study materials that I sent to a friend were only downloaded once in at least 2 years before the shutdown.

Copyright is enforced? OK, lets give everyone that had any part in films or TV individual copyright privileges. Actors, producers, writers, cameramen, carpenters, painters, drivers, foley artists, payroll, caterers, any musician whose work was used. Where do we stop? Each would have the right to license where it would be shown, negotiate a price, enforce any infringements etc. As bad as copyright law is screwed up at least we don't have this nightmare. She was rightly DENIED any copyright claim.

Perhaps Cindy Lee Garcia should have given more thought to whether it was wise to appear in a film that would obviously be insulting to Muslims. This "religion of peace" started bloody riots where hundreds died because of a few cartoons. They hijack jetliners and fly them into skyscrapers. That day huge throngs of people all over the Mid East were celebrating and cheering when the towers collapsed. They wear bomb vests and set them off on crowded buses and markets not even caring that children will be killed. Even pregnant women have committed suicide attacks. These "martyrs" are regarded as heroes and their photos are posted on billboards celebrating their bravery. Muslim organizations provide support for the families of suicide bombers. NOT REALLY THE KIND OF PEOPLE THAT YOU WANT TO PISS OFF. Does she think the Muslims that want to kill her will just forgive and forget because of her futile attempt to suppress this video?

    Re: Vandals

Vikings is a legitimate historical term and no one with Norse ancestry would find it offensive.

Since sports are dominated by black players maybe Washington could name their team the Washington niggers. Not meant to be racist, just to make a point that native Americans find Redskins just as offensive as blacks find that term.

Another thing about when I shop online is the times when there has been a problem with the item I wait to post my review until I see how the seller responds. When they pay for return shipping or even tell me to just throw the defective one away and quickly make a refund or ship a replacement I will give them 5 stars. One time I bought a hard drive on Amazon that was supposed to be new but actually had over 6,000 hours and 90 bad sectors I knew that it was an obvious rip off. I wrote to the seller and told him that if he sent me a new drive I would not report him to Amazon and just not leave any review. He replaced the drive and I kept my word. Afterwards I regretted this because he was probably still cheating people who don't know how to check the SMART data.

When I shop on Ebay a 98% positive is good enough for me. If I look through the reviews nearly everyone says things like "fast shipping", "great price" and "would buy from this seller again" Then there are always a few that have horrible things to say. A review like this might result in the loss of 1 star. He didn't say the guy ripped him off or didn't do exactly what he was supposed to do. Now because of this almost completely positive review this guy is showing the whole world what an asshole he is. When will they ever learn? The review would have not hurt his reputation but he sure screwed himself!

    Re: Re: Question

My son has that game and when the creatures turn into Nazis you blow them away. Hogan's Heros became a huge hit over there probably because they portray the Nazis as idiots. Been a long time since I have seen it but I think swastikas were seen in it. Did they block them out in the German versions?

  • Mar 21st, 2014 @ 8:37pm

    Question

I know I should have asked this on the post a while back about Germany freaking out because the South Park game failed to remove the swastikas from the German release but this is somewhat related. If the swastika is illegal in that country how to they handle things like documentaries and history books? I know that this is a part of their history they want to put behind them but they can't deny it happened. Anyone know how their laws pertain to historical educational media?

Very true. Don't even think about working on a hybrid car with anything but a Fluke. Your savings for the cheap meter won't pay your funeral costs.

I have a Fluke 88V. The yellow part is a rubber casing to give protection when you inevitably drop it. Slide it off and the meter is completely gray. The yellow part on these cheap meters looks like it is just part of the hard plastic case?

Been a while since I saw that but didn't they also screw over their undercover informant and bring him up on charges?

$30,000 / 2000 meters = $15 each. Since that is probably wholesale even with 100% markup they would retail at $30. Don't remember exactly but I think I paid well over $300 for a Fluke meter several years ago. Fluke is well known to be top of the line equipment. I don't think anyone would think they were getting a Fluke for $30.

I have owned Fluke multimeters and this one does look similar. Fluke is known for top notch quality and features but you do pay for the name. I'm guessing this meter doesn't retail for even a third as the cheapest model of Fluke. If they had given some brand that even remotely sounded like Fluke they might have somewhat of a case. I worked as a mechanic for years and nobody I know would be stupid enough to think this was a Fluke. If they start making them red will Sears sue them?

I have to agree. He would be one of the sharpest judges they ever had. Problem is you don't get nominated to that court by pissing people off by speaking hard truths. You get there by kissing the right asses.
