What a bunch of whiners! I have an UltraViolet account with about 30 movies. I can watch any of them on my home theater with the Vudu app in my BD player. Most of them came free with DVDs/BDs I bought, but I paid for a few directly on Vudu and Sony's site. I watched one on my Kindle Fire the other day, and one on my iPad a few weeks ago. I can download or stream them to my Android phone using the Flixster app (although I don't really care about watching movies on my phone). I've never tripped over any of those "massive strings" from DRM. It just works (except for frequent bugs in the Flixster service). I had to create a new UltraViolet account and Flixster account and it was such a pain to set up ... took me a whole 30 seconds! Then another unbearable 20 seconds to link my Vudu account (already had it). I'm still recovering from the mental anguish of multiple accounts. (But no complaints that I had to create a TechDirt account. ;-)
I just don't get all this negativity about evil DRM, but maybe that's just because I don't use Linux in my home theater. But why deal with the pain when my BD player and my cheap Roku box stream UV just fine?
BTW, the post I'm responding to is full of shite. There's no 48-hour limit, I never had to register any player, and I never had to enter a movie code more than once.
