  This would allow prices to go higher since monopolies raise prices and the retail markup could be done away with while giving the labels more money and the artists nothing.

  i'll amend it. only in the last cable run (to the speakers) after it's been changed back to an analog signal, does wire quality maybe, possibly, have some bearing on sound quality. there is -never- any reason, however, to buy anything other than the cheapest possible HDMI cables that will reach.
  
  
  
  Think of it this way... whats the cheapest, thinnest, shittiest, unshielded, garbage, abused, often kinked all to hell, wire commonly used in very long, very prone to interference runs? cat 5. and with the right hardware in place on either end, you can push gigabit speeds through it without errors, and thats only got 4 pairs. HDMI runs 15 conductors. for reference, HD video runs at at most 35 megabits, double for 3d. So, theoretically and mathematically, through a single cat 5 wire, you could run 13 instances of hd 3d video with band left over, without error, lag, or distortion. Fuck HDMI.

  This seems like a big embezzlement scheme to me.
  
  Following the money:
  Taxpayer to govt. (taxes)
  govt to grant fund (controlled by Marks and others)
  grant fund to a.d.e. (lobbying group)
  a.d.e. back to the people who gave the money to a.d.e (because they are in control of the cash)
  
  Makes me wonder who else got a piece of this pie.

  I'm curious as to how a court decides the value of privacy.
  
  My browsing history is worth a fair bit to me personally. I'm sure there are companies who collate many people's history as market research and may pay as little as a few pennies per. Is market value == value of harm caused?

  I always thought the Ender series would make a cool game. Like missile command except there are dozens of gun turrets and they all move. You would need a full arcade panel (four joysticks + buttons) to play.
