DailyDirt: Cheaper Satellites Are Blasting Off

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket has recently demonstrated its capabilities by successfully docking with the International Space Station. It’s the first example of a private company achieving this feat, and it’s paving the way for more private space ventures. Cheaper space missions are becoming more commonplace, and here are just a few more experimental projects that are aiming to change the space race by creating a multitude of mini space missions.

By the way, StumbleUpon can also recommend some good Techdirt articles, too.

Relativity...!

Nice one, AnonCoward. Relativity.. I’m glad I wasn’t drinking anything while I read your comment — it would have sprayed all over.

Seriously, though, I think the theory is that the zero-g effect might accelerate whisky aging due to the way liquids mix differently without gravity… but I doubt the difference is enough to significantly speed up the aging of whisky.

Re: Relativity...!

There should be no effect – liquids are usually thoroughly stirred before fermentation so that the bacteria/fungi are evenly distributed. Even if there were, the effect would be to slow down any chemical process by greatly reducing convection.

Considering the brand name was placed in the article, I think the real reason is clear – it’s a marketing stunt.
