Sure. And if they had avoided the tests and you had died of something the tests would have found, they could very easily be facing a malpractice lawsuit. It's not greed generally that causes this, but a CYA due to lawsuit lottery.
Is it disrespectful to my wife for me to be lusting after her and want her to wear sexy underwear that says "unwrap me"? Is it disrespectful to herself to want to be viewed as sexy and want to wear underwear that tells me to unwrap her?
Yeah I get tired of hearing people whine about crap like this. It's much like complaining about cell phone companies yet continuing to spend $150 a month on your phone. Obviously, the process didn't deter this guy from throwing money at Microsoft so why should they give a crap?

What a freaking joke. Do the people writing this garbage really believe it?

Do you not have any friends who share your likes and dislikes with books? Do you not know of any online resources that can link you to people who have similar interests? If your answer is no to these questions, I can't help you out. But don't expect me to help support the local bookstore just because you find it worthwhile.
This will generate a whole new concept movie shop. A place that sells DVDs/BluRays etc and the Digital conversion service together. I can see it now. You go there to buy your movie and they then offer to digitize it for you for a small fee. Perhaps they offer volume discounts - i.e. buy three movies get free digitization!
Then you get to stand there and open your brand new DVD and hand it over so they can put it on the cloud for you. You actually end up walking away with no physical need for a disc, seems like a fabulous deal to me!
Interesting that you chose a book where the kindle edition actually costs more than buying it new. I realize amazon is charging slightly more for its new hardback, but if you look you can buy it from other sellers new for almost $4 less than the Amazon kindle edition.
