It would be great if Cropper could point to a programmer who is still getting paid for code he wrote in 1962. Because I would imagine it's not a very big list.
My Dearest John Steele, you certainly do have balls the size of churchbells. Too bad you have no brain cells to accompany them. I'm no lawyer, but even I know that any judge reading your trash is going to spit his coffee all over his desk trying not to laugh. Then he'll likely have to re-read it a time or two, just to make sure he's following your twisted logic.
I'll save you the suspense. Motion DENIED. You really do need to just come clean and get it all over with. Too bad your arrogance won't let you do that.
I'm not a lawyer, and I certainly don't understand all the technical details of what happened today. I remember an article/video regarding taking the fifth, and how it can't be construed as an admission of guilt. So where does that leave us? Other than Judge Wright being apocalyptically cross with Dumb, Dumber and Holy-Shit-Are-You-Stupid, what have we accomplished?
I'm told our best hope is that the gang is turned over to the DoJ, the Bar, etc. I can only hope that the DoJ can quit chasing alleged infringers long enough to pay attention to these assclowns.
I really was hoping for something more.
I believe "hatefucked" is the industry term.
Bad example using the Pirates. I'm pretty sure they actually TRY to not make the post-season. They tease you in August with 13-over-500 record, then they go out of their way to nosedive the rest of the season.
WTF is Schwartz? Are they ripping off Spaceballs?
It actually _was_ called Formula 51 in the US. IMDB also noted that in the UK (and presumably much of Europe) it went by 51st State. Which is understandable, I suppose, since the move contained references to both titles.
I think the US government has made it clear that it's not too concerned about making friends.
As an American, I'd like to make it clear that I believe what my government is doing is wrong. Please don't hold my governemnt's actions against me personally. I'm bitching as loud as I can.
From the movie "Formula 51"...
"England ain't nuthin but the 51st state!"
Apparently, that's true.
In SABAM's view? All of 'em. Pay up, sucka!
Average Joe to Collection Societies: F--k Off and Die.
The poiticians, even as they're trying to say "We get it", don't get it. On one hand, they think it's the tech companies they need to appease. Then they think it's the "nerds" they need to appease. What they don't get (and Mike states as much, I'm just boiling it down) it that it's the citizenry, the people the politicians (allegedly) represent that need to be appeased. They have such a warped sense of who they work for (i.e. corporations and special interests) that they've completely forgotten that it is the average citizen that they should be worried about.
I feel more confident everyday in my "Vote out incumbents" philosophy.
I'd say it is more like HOW the Streisand Effect was created, but your point is duly noted.
I, too, immediately thought that this might have been "associated" with LV. But then, a split second later I noticed the TM (rather than LV) monogram, and the copyright symbol. Noticing that, I read most of the text on the poster and realized that the creator of the artwork had parodied the LV "pattern".
Apparently you skipped everything after "But then". Go back, look at the poster again, and I think you'll come to the same conslusion that I did; the artwork is a parody that effectively illustrates the very topics to be addressed, as further idicated by the TEXT in the poster.
Yeah, we get it. The actual acts are illegal, so writing about it must be illegal too.
Oh wait...except it's (generally) not. So much for your brilliant theory.
I thought that's what we had been doing. They just don't seem to be in a cooperative mood...
It would be nice if I could type...
So, why don't the search engines simply agree to abide by the "wishes" of the studios and the governments. but explicitly state in the search results that is only presenting what the government allows them to present.
Think about the sh*tstorm that would be created if you searched for a song or movie, and at the top of the result set it stated in nice, big, bold text "The U.K. Government, in cooperation with the MPAA and/or RIAA, have limited us to showing you the following results. There are other sites that asre pertinent to your query, but we are not allowed to show them to you."
I seem to think that would draw a lot of attention to the issue.
Ye reap what ye sow.
Karma is a bitch.
What comes around, goes around.
Are you starting to get the picture yet, US Govt?
