    iPhones have < 30% of the market

    How is that now a monopoly? How is it that letting others use Apple's tech for free is the desired outcome? Apple might still have the highest profit in that market. My favorite year was when Samsung posted a loss because of battery-gate; Apple's % that year, was 104% of the profit. Perfection. People pay more for Apple products. Always have. Paying those prices for wannabe AppleCorps, nobody does that. Nobody will. Because they aren't as good a product as iPhone.

    I have followed techdirt for a long, long time. One thing that they have covered too many times is these types of situations Any result is only as good as the process that obtains it. Any process must be able to be duplicated by independent third parties. But that would cost money. Then maybe we should cut back on the over gathering of data; Data we have no actual legitimate use for. LEO love to hide the truth, because they have already made up their minds.

    Status of EU Twitter engineer?

    The man in question had a $100M early termination clause; Elmo fired him over Twitter because he wouldn't move to CA and work in the office. Employee said fine, send me the check. Then Elmo quickly switched to "working the issue out" and no he's not fired. My google-fu is apparently in adequate to resolve this. Which is hampered by the buckets of crap with any search re the "petty tyrant" (confirmed by judge)

The reasoning of all the EU decisions against USA corps has always been the same: Get the cash. Right and wrong, or moot points were never the point of the EU. Cash is the point. In particular when it is American Cash.

    I remember the 60's, vividly. One of the biggest changes since the earlier decades was small town cops might not get away with everything. Granted it still sucked, weed possession was a felony charge in many states. Yet, modern(-sic) day cops are just as loose with following the law as they were back in the good-old-days. As in, not at all. With smart phones we had BLA. In the 50's Blacks and other POC were routinely disappeared. If not actually vanished they reappeared beaten nearly to death. Civil Rights came at a cost, in lives. I know those cops don't know the reality of what they clearly are longing for, they are too young. We cannot let them skate on the consequences. This is a long and bloody path we as a nation of laws cannot allow them to follow.

    Here we are - again

    Comcast is the reason I left cable TV to Dish. Dish, however, became nearly as expensive as Comcast. So, we left them recently. Now, Paramont+ plus some streaming is all we want. To add Comcast BACK is more than grating, the reason we left cable was Comcast. Infinite quarterly growth is a disaster for any corporate in any industry.

    We know the NSA built the super internet sucker data center in Utah. We also know they've had significant trouble getting the silly thing to pass installation testing (something, something, $100K circuit breakers). If that data center was ever to be operational, my question is what is its costs? Is that on par with buying the data? I mean, the idea that they would suck up the entire web for years at a time is just hilariously funny. Did anyone give them a heads up about 4K pics, and 8K pics? Lots of room to hide data there. Takes a lot of storage for all those dick pics.

    Yeah, they copied his posting from just before the attorney filed the briefs. Lawyer charged him $3K and change, for each of them. He expected that he might have to cough up another $3K for reasons. $6K+ for two hours work, and it got thrown out, twice. That's good pay if you can get it. And for lousy work.

    Just canceled after 12y. Left Comcast, sleazy team, violated the contract and claimed nobody had a contract like that. Anyway, Dish, let's you do nearly everything online. Except cancelling the service. You have to call their physical support in their timezone. Once the dude figured out that I really wasn't going to change my mind he got all fussy about what stuff is being returned, and they would charge me up to #325 if they don't get it within 30d. 12yo equipment? Well, the actually charged my card $14 and change. So, scare tactics. Yep. Creepy customer support. Yep. Did I cancel anyway. Yep.

    But, it is easier being a creep, and making more cash. ATT bought Cingular because they had the initial iPhone exclusively (time gated, don't recall how long) A phone gets stolen, the "new" user only has one place to use it. So they created an account with ATT and did just that. Serial #, Model #, and user ID were all on the phone. ATT just allowed the thief to use the stolen phone. Now, Google is doing some major crap. Check into their ads. They are serving ads on some really bad sites. But, they get paid, share the proceeds with bad actors, and have been fighting off advertisers that want refunds. Google, they got their quality on full time suck.

    Specifically, an Ann Rand book club. Her ideas were interesting but blind to the drawbacks. Relying on the one genius and letting them run rampant with little regard is a way to have systems shutdown. And once down, many systems that are unstructured can be quite difficult to restart. Marc sounds like a rich guy that just recently was told his latest most precious idea was bull.

    The people that are pushing the negative "save our children" pitch sound very much like MAGAts. Worse, they sound, and look like, our Congressmen and women (two worm-ens included) that the facts do not matter. Like the impeachment query, they want to push their false narrative of the Biden crime family. They have no facts, and they don't care. They just clambered onto "but, the children" bandwagon. Except, it isn't really clear to me what the actual goal is. Now I realize that MAGAt politicians might not have a goal beyond clicks and Xeets. Aside from trying to control all social media they might not have an actual goal. Just another false narrative to rile their numbskulls base with.

    Remember when Google was good?

    Yeah, me neither. Problem 0, the initial problem for Google was how to make money at all. That morphed into how to make a profit. Well, ads were the solution. They just did a really shitty job of it. Little did I know, but they routinely had 10% of anybody's ads go nowhere. In the goal of doing no evil they still collected the money - cause that wasn't evil. At least, not for Google's accountants. Every single thing they've done outside of search, has been canceled, or just failed. If it hasn't, then we haven't waited long enough.
