If the NSA is tracking all overseas e-mail and financial transactions, why do they let so many Americans send money to scammers? Why can't these scammers be prosecuted? Are we supposed to believe that they filtered the scammers out? That no scammer money goes to some terrorist somewhere?
Damn, do something useful with that ill-gotten data.
Of course the authorities go after the kid who gets bullied! Do you think we get bullied because we are strong, cool, well-spoken, or rich? No, we get bullied because we are weak and poor, wearing 10-year-old fashions because we shop at the Good Will instead of Abercrombe.
Did you think people who get into positions of authority were the bullied, or the bullies?
I think we can see what will happen pretty clearly from what happened 2 days ago. Dubbed a "day of rememberance", it seems to me like a "day to remember to be fearful, and support whatever measures necessary to stay safe." If politicians and the media can still play this card 12 years down the line, a good NSA, CIA or FBI head can easily play it for 50.
Syria? Seriously? The administration wants to try to reign in the use of chemical weapons which could easily be used on nations neutral or friendly to the US, and you see that as only a smokescreen.
It was a lie about chemical weapons that got us into Iraq. This time, there is actual evidence.
I would prefer that we had support of more countries, not just France.
I think the concept of "The Government" erodes democracy more than anything else, because it concerns career employees rather than elected officials.
If they need our trust to do their job, they probably aren't doing their job.
Re: Re: Have those 1000 sysadmins actually been terminated?
Real Sysadmins don't spend months or years creating a beautiful, functional system just to tear it down at the threat of termination. It would be like cutting the left pinky-finger off of your child. It's sick.
Can anyone say, "Duck and Cover"? (Look it up on YouTube if you're under 45)
The cold war was over, the old revenue streams were drying up, then, "Terrorism!!!"
Now they're inducting the next generation. Never too early to plant the seeds of fear in the hearts and minds of people.
I don't think Congress can pass a law that would change the Constitution. They would have to pass an amendment.
This "immunity clause" should be easily thrown out, if someone takes the effort (spelled $$).
I've been thinking about this, and it truly puzzles me when people say the NSA has "smart people." I would think that a smart person would not stretch the law as the NSA has done, because when it snaps back, their reach will be radically pruned.
My definition of intelligence is to be able to predict the outcome of actions and situations with accuracy. I guess my definition differs from most peoples.
