Again, how did BayTSP get her ip address in the first place?
They have to be sniffing the line somewhere. Unless they have permission from the owner or are a govt. agency with a warrant they are guilty of wiretapping. This is no different from someone listening in on a phone conversation and actually much worse as they are getting all kinds of traffic not just download stuff. Credit card numbers can be flashing by as well as social security numbers medical history, you name it. How do they get away unchallenged?
So, where do they ge tthe infringing ip address from?
Are they sniffing a trunk? Do they have a snuffer outside a known site? Doesn't anyone think this is very very illegal to sniff a wire? I believe it's called wiretapping. The eff should challenge them on that point.
Students could use it if text books were ported to it and homework could be assigned, worked on and turned in via the ipad.
Other than that I really don't see a use for it.
Right now for example, I'm watching a hockey game, browsing this and reading a book. Can that be done with the ipad?
I also do a lot of photography. can lightroom or aperture be loaded in it? It would have been a nice machine with mac osx and usb slots.
I'll wait for the google version and I'm a loyal apple user.
Do you make up the username and password or is it assigned when you check in?
I never figured out how the 3 strikes could keep a person off the internet. Make it a little inconvenient but keep them off when there is free wifi all over.
Maybe the next step will be to assign a user name at birth.
I've been curious where they do the actual monitoring? In the isp's racks? They can't just put a sniffer on any wire and get the data plus I believe that would be wiretapping. In fact, I think anytime they sniff the wire it would be wiretapping?
The Olympics makes a bundle of money for someone or something.
Where does it all go? I don't see their expenses as being all that high. Each country pays for it's own athletes and the host country furnishes the arenas, etc. so where does all the money they - the Olympic committee for lack of a better description - go? They get billions of $$$$.
They can pull the plug at your residence but how can they stop you from going to the local macs or starbucks or any open wireless and getting on? How can they prevent you from getting an email address?
They can make it inconvenient but they can't ban a person.
