AltaVista Offers Free ISP

As had been rumored before, AltaVista is going to be offering free dialup access. I think this is a good idea for AltaVista, as it should defiitely bring some more traffic to its sites. It’s supposed to be “ad supported” but I would think they would be better off not having that annoying floating ad box like NetZero, but just forcing the user to the AltaVista home page every time they log in. It will be interesting to see how this proceeds.
