Anonymous Leaks Some NSA Documents About PRISM
from the spy-back-time dept
Well, this is getting interesting. Anonymous has now leaked some NSA documents about PRISM and related programs. You can see the documents over here and a slightly hyperbolic, but not unexpected, statement about the leak. The documents don’t appear to have anything that surprising or revealing beyond what people expected — and many appear to be fairly old. However, just the fact that such documents are being leaked is interesting, as it’s almost certain that more will be coming (and perhaps quite soon) about all of this government surveillance. And it’s no longer a case where people are just sitting around and accepting what the government is doing.

This was inevitable and I expect even more action by Anonymous in the coming days and weeks.
Re: Re:
Excellent ! Hack their program and out the whole thing to us Americans !
Re: Re: Re:
Us UK residents are victims as well with our data being shared with GCHQ. We deserve that too
Re: Re: Re: Re:
That is a good point to remember. At least US citizens have some fake protections against the NSA, where anyone outside the country is completely fair game.
Re: Re: Re:2 Re:
I think the European Commission needs to take action. Revoke the US safe harbour status.
Re: Re: Re:3 Re:
The commission?!? THE COMMISSION?!?
sigh
Mike, did you see my link in the last post?
Thanks for making it a story. Keep up the good work.
Re: Re:
My bet is on them actually using their real names then claiming the government is trying to set them up.
Anonymous
With all of the NSA spying, “Anonymous” may have to change their name soon.
Re: Anonymous
Unonymous? Unanimous?
Re: vlwovnoavnaewho;vnkaws
“We are vlwovnoavnaewho;vnkaws. Expect us.”
Re: Anonymous
Antonymous of Anonymous?
Group Formerly Known as Anonymous?

Re: Re: Anonymous
I’m more partial to Enigma myself…
is the government going to be able to pin this on Manning? after all, these are leaked documents that are embarrassing for the government. just because Wikileaks hasn’t put them out doesn’t make them any more or less true
Yeah! You’re dipshit asshole friends at Anonymous have really let the cat out of the bag! Wow! All the government-hating idiots that you cater to must be creaming themselves! Yeah!
Bawk. Bawk. Chicken Man. I’m ready when you are, you spineless chicken.
Re: Re:
Your command of the English language, it makes you’re ass look retarded.
Re: Re: Re:
I see what you’re did there…
Re: Re:
And you do not sound like a crazy lunatic at all.
No sir.
Makes me wonder why nobody will engage you for anything other than making fun of you or shunning you.
Re: Re:
So says the kettle calling the pot black.
Re: Re:
You are seriously off the rails.
These documents are already available on U.S. government websites.
It's deliberate "leak" for a "limited hangout".
And as your last piece just confirmed, “this is hardly surprising”.
Get off the current and ask what the people who control NSA (and Google + other corporations) are doing in secret right now in Watford, England, at the Bilderberg convention. — If they were working for good, they’d do it in the open.
Re: It's deliberate "leak" for a "limited hangout".
While I tend to agree, that’s not an especially good time to use the old “Why do you need privacy if you’ve nothing to hide?” argument.

I agree. In fact, I think that argument’s akin to asking, “Why do you need a door on your bathroom if you’ve nothing to hide?”
hostzi.com seems to be blocked on U-Verse
I can’t connect to the site the files are located on. Anyone else having the same issue?

Priceless
As I mentioned earlier...
I’d be more impressed with Anonymous’ “leak” if the same document hadn’t already been publicly available for the last two years on the military’s own site.

Anonymous apparently knows how to use Google. Or, I suppose, DuckDuckGo.
Not NSA Documents, not classified, and not related to PRISM. As someone already pointed out, they are available on the DoD’s own website. If you want to know about the network in these documents, talk to Bradly Manning. It’s how he got access to most of the materials he leaked.

Sorry to deflate your hero worship, Masnick. As others pointed out, the docs in question were published long ago.
creates
It would make much more sense generally if you replaced the word “leaks” with the word “creates” as much of what comes out of these sources seems very suspect.
Worse, in this case they are claiming to leak documents that have already been out there. The only leak here is the one you took instead of checking facts.
