Senator Jerry Moran Removes Himself As A PROTECT IP Co-Sponsor
from the good-for-him dept
As the march to pass PROTECT IP has continued, Senator Patrick Leahy has been able to bring on board some additional Senators as “sponsors” of the bill. However, at least one may be having second thoughts. SD points us to the news that Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas came on as a sponsor on June 23rd… but then withdrew his sponsorship four days later on the 27th. I have no idea if this was an error or if Senator Moran realized that this bill had serious problems. I have a request in to the Senator’s office for more info and will update this post once we know more.

Mike, have you put in for a comment with tha flithy crook we call our senator here in VT? I’d like to hear his reasoning on this, I’m betting it has something to do with his massive campaign contributions from the RIAA and MPAA.
Re: Re:
Amen to a fellow Vermonter! (there really are not that many of us :). )
satisfying to know that i’m not the only one up here sickened by our senior senator devoting so much energy to defending the major hollywood studios based over in burlington!
keep up the good fight!
I know I emailed Moran asking him to oppose the bill, and got an actual non form letter back thanking me for my input and saying he’d heard from a number of his other constituents on the subject of this bill recently too, so it may be a senator actually listening to the voters who elected him.
Re: Re:
Did he say he was going to vote against it?

That’s a shoe in for the funniest comment this week.
Just mailed Durbin...
I just sent an e-mail off to Dick Durbin (D-IL) announcing my displeasure with his name being on the co-sponsor list.
Re: Just mailed Durbin...
If only we could get all the dicks removed from the list.
Re: Re: Just mailed Durbin...
For purely non-selfish reasons, let’s start w/all the IL politicians and work our way outward….
I guess the cheque didn’t clear.
He got a brain!
He might be smarter than the average senator.
Maybe he’s not such a moran after all?
