DailyDirt: The Itsy Bitsy Spiders
from the urls-we-dig-up dept
Spiders are fascinating little creatures. There are over 40,000 different spider species, and these 8-legged little guys are found all over the world. If spiders aren’t your thing, read no further. But if you’ve ever scooped one up to let it outside instead of killing it immediately, here are a few links on spiders that you might want to visit.
- LinEpig is a Picasa photo album of lots of female spiders’ private parts. It’s not easy to identify female erigonines of the linyphiid family, but at least one amateur spider fan has collected quite a few pictures that might help. [url]
- The average person does NOT swallow 8 spider every year. How would anyone even measure how many spiders are swallowed (unless people consciously ate them)? [url]
- The golden orb-web spider can coat its web strands with an ant repellent, 2-pyrrolidinone. Other large spiders probably also do this, otherwise ants would be seen foraging on spider webs all the time… [url]
- To discover more interesting biological curiosities, check out what’s currently floating around the StumbleUpon universe. [url]
By the way, StumbleUpon can recommend some good Techdirt articles, too.

Santorum says it goes too far, but would be for better legislation
Paul is obviously against
What's with the fascination with spiders here?
I like spiders as much, or as little, as the next person, but Techdirt doesn’t seem like the right place to read up on htem.
Having said that, I’m glad to know that people don’t swallow EIGHT SPIDERS w/o knoing it, EVERY year…….
Talk is cheap.
Sigh.the sad thing is, they will talk a good game. But their actions will still show that they are only concerned about following the money. Remember, I believe in change. And the only change I have seen, is my heart breaking at the corruption in our nation. What happened?

I wonder if anyone will ever test that cape to see if it repels ants… 😛
