You See, Once Buyers And Sellers Agree On A Price, The Deal Is Pretty Much Done

from the in-case-you-weren't-sure-how-it-worked dept

While MySpace co-founder Brad Greenspan got plenty of attention last week calling for a federal investigation of News Corp's purchase of Intermix Media (the parent company of MySpace), he's been beating that drum for well over a year. In fact, back in February, he filed a lawsuit over the issue. So why did it come back up late last week? Probably because he realized that the lawsuit he filed was about to be thrown out of court. The judge noted that shareholders of the company were fully informed and there was nothing funny about the deal. It seems unlikely that this will go much further, as the chances of a federal investigation seem pretty slim. In the meantime, we doubt we'll be hearing similar complaints from the founders who just sold YouTube.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    It costs...

to be a trend setter. Myspace started the trend. I also think he should go wreck a Ferrari.
