Rupert Murdoch Maybe Sorta Possibly Getting Into The US Broadband Market, Maybe

from the maybe,-possibly dept

Talk about vague. Fresh off of buying up a bunch of websites popular with the kids these days and now needing a strategy to wrap around them and the various other properties he owns, Rupert Murdoch gave the Wall Street Journal not quite a non-denial on the question of whether or not he’s going to start a broadband company: “Here (in the United States), we don’t know. We may be forming a company with partners to build something out here that would give you broadband.” Of course, this comes just days after Murdoch-owned DirecTV was saying that they’re looking to get into the wireless business, too. Meanwhile, here we are, again, with a media company that’s been buying up web properties and is looking to get into the broadband market too. Haven’t we seen this movie before… and didn’t it end badly?
