Vonage Settles CallVantage Suit

from the all-in-a-name... dept

Last year, Vonage sued AT&T over their use of the name “CallVantage” for their VoIP offering, worrying that CallVantage was way too similar to Vonage, and that some potential customers would be confused. It appears the two companies have settled the case. It’s not clear if any money exchanged hands (most likely), but AT&T has now agreed that they won’t use “CallVantage” without the AT&T in front of it any more — though, that might still be confusing to some. The two companies also settled domain name issues, as each had registered a bunch of domain names that were sort of halfway morphs between the two names (callvontage, callvonage, etc.).
